Late Idris Dankabo was the eldest son of the late Chairman of the defunct Kabo Air and Jarma of Kano, Alhaji Muhammad Adamu Dankabo, a prominent businessman, politician, and philanthropist.

He is survived by his wife and two children.

Funeral prayers will be held today (Friday) at 10 a.m. at the Kano Emir’s Palace, with the Emir expected to lead the prayers.

The Dankabo family remains one of Kano’s most influential. Kabo Air, founded by the late patriarch in 1980, once operated domestic, regional, and international flights before scaling down operations in the 2000s to focus mainly on charter and Hajj services.

The Sarkin Gabas title, held by the late Idris Dankabo, is among the senior positions within the Kano Emirate hierarchy, with significant cultural and administrative responsibilities.

His passing at a relatively young age is expected to leave a major gap in the traditional leadership structure of the emirate, considered one of the most influential in Northern Nigeria.
