JIGAWA POLICE ARREST FOUR SUSPECTS OVER CATTLE RUSTLING AND CAR THEFT IN HADEJIA

The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with cattle rustling and motor vehicle theft in Hadejia Local Government Area.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday in Dutse, the state capital, by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam.
According to the statement, operatives attached to the Hadejia Area Command, working with the local vigilante group, Yanbulala, on September 18 arrested one Isah Muhammad, 47, of Kirakasamma LGA, found with two bulls suspected to have been stolen.
“The two bulls were promptly recovered, and investigations have commenced while efforts are ongoing to arrest his accomplices,” Adam stated.
Similarly, on September 17, around 11:30 am, police operatives apprehended three suspected car thieves identified as Amadu Dan Zaria, 45, Salisu Ya’u, 25, and Musa Muhammad, 30, all residents of Hadejia LGA, in connection with the theft of a Daihatsu vehicle.
Adam confirmed that the stolen vehicle was recovered in good condition, adding that the suspects remain in custody and will be charged in court after investigations are concluded.
The spokesperson further quoted the state Commissioner of Police as assuring residents of intensified patrols, raids, and surveillance to curb criminal activities across Jigawa.
“The Command calls on the public to provide credible information to assist police in crime prevention and detection,” Adam added.
He also urged residents to remain law-abiding and security-conscious, stressing that community cooperation is vital for sustainable security.
Cattle rustling and vehicle theft remain significant security challenges in northern Nigeria, often disrupting rural livelihoods. The police in Jigawa say they will continue working with vigilante groups to combat the menace and ensure the prosecution of offenders.
