NORTHERN GOVERNORS MEET OVER INSECURITY

The governors of 19 northern states are meeting in Kaduna to discuss the recent increase in kidnapping, banditry, and other related crimes in the region.

The main focus of the meeting is to find ways to deal with the growing insecurity in the North.

Governors like Uba Sani from Kaduna, Bago from Niger, Inuwa Yahaya from Gombe, Umar Namadi from Jigawa, Dauda Lawal from Zamfara, Mai Mala Buni from Yobe, Nasir Idris from Kebbi, Ahmadu Fintiri from Adamawa, and Abdullahi Sule from Nasarawa are present, with some joining through their deputies.

Traditional leaders, including the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Saad Abubakar III, are also attending the emergency meeting, which is happening at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House in Kaduna on Monday.

Even though the details of the emergency meeting haven’t been made public yet, a government official mentioned that they are discussing important issues in the region, especially the recent worrying increase in kidnappings and bandit attacks in the North.
