NAPTIP HANDS OVER 11 RESCUED TRAFFICKING VICTIMS TO JIGAWA LOCAL GOVERNMENT

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has handed over 11 victims of human trafficking to the Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State for reintegration with their families.

The handover took place during a meeting held on Sunday in Dutse, the state capital. Speaking at the event, the NAPTIP Commander in Jigawa State, Abdulkadir Turajo, said the victims were rescued by the agency’s operatives in Lokoja, Kogi State.

Turajo, who was represented by the command’s Head of Operations, Yunusa Mohammed, disclosed that the victims are all male children aged between seven and 15 years. He said they hail from Tsaba, Kunkurawa and Tsabare villages in Ringim Local Government Area.

According to him, the handover was facilitated through the Jigawa State Ministry for Local Government and Community Development, which coordinated with relevant authorities to ensure the safe return of the children to their communities.

The NAPTIP commander commended the Ringim Local Government Area and the state Ministry for Local Government for their prompt response, noting that it enabled the swift reunification of the victims with their families. He reiterated the agency’s commitment to combating human trafficking nationwide through proactive identification, rescue, and reintegration of victims.

Receiving the children on behalf of the local government, the Chairman of Ringim Local Government Area, Badamasi Garba, praised NAPTIP for its timely intervention. Garba, who was represented by the council’s Director of Personnel Management, Idana Isah, assured that the council would ensure the effective rehabilitation and reintegration of the children.

He also pledged the local government’s commitment to strengthening measures aimed at preventing future cases of human trafficking within the area.
