On Sunday, armed attackers attacked the First ECWA Church in Ayetoro-Kiri, which is in the Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State. During the attack, one person was killed and 20 others were taken hostage.

On the same day, gunmen carried out a planned attack on the Oke-Agi and Ilai communities in the Mopamuro local government area of Kogi State. The attack resulted in three deaths and the kidnapping of several people.

The attack at the ECWA church in Aiyetoro-Kiri resulted in one person, known only as Jayjay, being killed during the attack.

Local officials and security teams said they will keep checking the situation, as the number of people taken might be higher than 20.

The chairman of the council area, Zaccheus Dare Micheal, responded by blaming the church for holding services in a place that was already unstable.
He also ordered all markets in the area to be closed.

In the Mopamuro council area of the state, attacks on the Oke-Agi and Ilai communities happened at the same time around 4:00 a.m. on Sunday.
These attacks left many people dead, others hurt, and some residents taken hostage.

The armed group was active in the two communities for several hours before someone called for help.

The incidents in the two communities were confirmed by the Chairman of Mopamuro Local Government Area, Hon. Ademola Bello, alongside traditional authorities and community leaders.

Residents and community members are very worried about how long it took for help to arrive after the attacks. They said the attackers were moving around freely for more than an hour before anyone called for assistance.

Remember that on November 30, armed men attacked the Cherubim and Seraphim church in Ejiba, and many people were taken into the forest.

The recent attacks have made people even more scared in the area.
Local residents are asking security forces and government officials to take quick and strong actions to stop the increasing number of coordinated bandit attacks in Yagba Federal Constituency.

Mr Ope Owoyemi said, “The attack began in nearby communities that border Kwara State, but it has now spread downward.
No local government area in Yagbaland is safe, from Ejiba in Yagba West to Orunda-Ile in Yagba East, and now even the communities of Mopamuro.
