TINUBU SYMPATHISES WITH ANTHONY JOSHUA, WISHES HIM SPEEDY RECOVERY AFTER GHASTLY ACCIDENT

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sympathy to Nigerian-born boxing star, Anthony Joshua, following a tragic road accident that reportedly claimed two lives and left the former heavyweight champion injured.
In a heartfelt message contained in a statement signed by the President himself, Tinubu described the incident as a painful tragedy that has cast “a deep shadow on this season,” while commiserating with Joshua and the families affected by the loss.
“I extend my deep sympathies to you following the tragic accident on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, which claimed two precious lives and caused you injuries,” the President said.
“This immense tragedy casts a deep shadow on this season.”
The President acknowledged the emotional burden of the incident on the boxing star and his family, praising Joshua’s character, discipline and enduring connection to Nigeria.
“I sympathise with you and your family as you bear the emotional weight of this unfortunate incident. As a sportsman, you have always shown courage, discipline, and unwavering love for our country. These are qualities that have made you a source of national pride,” Tinubu stated.
Calling for unity and compassion in difficult times, the President urged Nigerians to support one another as a people bound by a shared destiny.
“In moments like this, we must encourage one another as brothers and sisters with a shared destiny,” he added.
Tinubu also offered prayers for Joshua’s recovery and for the families of those who lost their lives in the crash.
“I pray for strength, wisdom, and grace for you during this painful period. May God grant you a speedy recovery and repose to the souls of the departed,” the statement read.
Anthony Joshua, was on Monday involved in a fatal road accident along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State, which claimed the lives of two persons.
The crash reportedly occurred in the Makun area of the state, a busy section of the expressway that serves as a major transport route linking the South-West to other parts of the country.
News of the incident sparked widespread reactions on social media, with fans and supporters expressing concern and offering prayers for Joshua, while also mourning the victims of the crash.
