The Lagos State Government has begun clearance operations along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway to remove illegal structures and restore smooth traffic flow.

Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, announced the exercise in a statement on his X handle on Monday.

Wahab said the operation started at Alakija in Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area and has since progressed through Iyana Iba, continuing opposite Lagos State University (LASU). Active enforcement is also underway at Alaba Market, all within Ojo Local Government Area.

Wahab stated, “Operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Agency (@LAGESCOfficial), working alongside other enforcement teams from the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, have begun clearance operations at Alakija.

“The exercise has since moved through Iyana Iba and is currently ongoing opposite Lagos State University (LASU), with active enforcement also taking place at Alaba Market along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway.”

The operation follows a series of similar enforcement initiatives across Lagos in late 2025, including clearances along Jakande Coastal Road and the arrest of beggars on the Lekki-Epe Expressway.

Wahab explained that the latest operations are part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to improve environmental sanitation, enhance traffic flow, and ensure compliance with environmental and urban planning regulations along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway.
