ONDO JUDICIARY STRIKE DEEPENS AS JUSUN DEMANDS QUICK INTERVENTION FROM GOV. AIYEDATIWA

The ongoing strike by the Coalition of Magistrates, Presidents of Grade ‘A’ Customary Courts, and Legal Research Officers in Ondo State intensified on Tuesday as members of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) joined the industrial action.
The coalition began an indefinite strike on Monday, citing poor welfare conditions, unfulfilled promises by the state government, and the refusal to grant financial autonomy to the state judiciary.
On Tuesday, striking workers reportedly locked judges out of court facilities in Akure, the state capital, and shut down the Ondo State Judiciary Headquarters. When reporters visited the complex on Wednesday, the gates were locked, preventing judges from accessing their offices. Several official vehicles belonging to judges were seen parked outside as judicial activities remained at a standstill.
Some judiciary workers told journalists that JUSUN’s participation further crippled the system, urging Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to intervene immediately. They stressed that the judiciary may remain non-operational until their demands for improved welfare and financial autonomy are addressed.
