TWO DEAD, THREE ABDUCTED IN BENUE ATTACK

Suspected gunmen have reportedly killed two persons and abducted three others during an attack on Iwanev community at Ugbema junction in Buruku local government area of Benue State.

Sources said the assailants, whose identities remain unknown, invaded the community at night, killing two residents on the spot and taking three others to an undisclosed location.

The incident has sparked fear and panic among residents, who expressed concern over the deteriorating security situation and the risk of further attacks.

Community members appealed to the Benue State Government, led by Governor Hyacinth Alia, and the Chairman of Buruku Local Government Area, Hon. Raymond Zege Aondoakura, to take urgent steps to restore peace and ensure the safety of lives and property.

They also urged security agencies to increase patrols and carry out comprehensive investigations to apprehend those responsible and secure the release of the abducted victims.

Efforts to obtain confirmation from the spokesperson of the Benue state Police Command, DSP Udeme Edet, were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
