Arsenal became the first team to win all eight of their Champions League group matches as the Premier League leaders secured top spot, joining seven other clubs in direct qualification for the last 16.

Wednesday’s final group-stage fixtures saw a number of Premier League sides confirm top-eight finishes.

The Gunners ended the campaign with a perfect 24 points, narrowly ahead of Bayern Munich, who also advanced to the knockout rounds with 21 points from eight matches.

Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Barcelona, Chelsea, Sporting Lisbon, and Manchester City completed the list of teams progressing directly to the Champions League last 16.

Reigning European champions Paris Saint-Germain and 15-time winners Real Madrid must navigate the knockout play-offs after finishing outside the top eight in their Champions League groups.
