The Oyo State Police Command successfully foiled a planned deadly attack on Elebe Village, Aleniboro, near Irawo Mine, neutralising two armed bandits in an intelligence-led operation.
Describing the mission as a major operational success, the Command said: “Through proactive policing, intelligence-driven crime prevention, and precise tactical coordination, we have prevented a planned attack on Elebe Village, Aleniboro, via Irawo Mine.”
The operation highlighted the Command’s commitment to rapid response, intelligence gathering, and the protection of vulnerable communities from criminal threats.
The breakthrough came after a tip-off from a good Samaritan, who reported that about ten armed Fulani men had hidden themselves in a farm settlement within Elebe Village, planning a night-time assault.
The suspects were armed with two AK-47 rifles, single-barrel guns, and locally made pistols, and were openly discussing their plan to attack the village.
Upon receiving the intelligence, the Divisional Police Officer of Tede Division promptly informed the Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna, who immediately deployed additional operational assets.

Police officers, working with Agbekoya members and local hunters, swiftly moved to the hideout. Upon sighting the security operatives, the bandits opened fire, resulting in a gun duel that left two assailants neutralised while others escaped, reportedly with gunshot wounds.
A follow-up patrol combed the surrounding bush, recovering one locally made pistol, one empty cartridge, two live cartridges, two expended 7.62mm AK-47 rounds, suspected quantities of Indian hemp, two Tecno phones, and a bottle containing a suspected mixed drink.
The Command confirmed that the area is now secured, with ongoing surveillance and bush-combing operations to apprehend fleeing suspects and eliminate remaining threats to Elebe Village and nearby communities.
Residents were urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest security formation or the Oyo State Call Response Centre toll-free line on 615, or the Police Command Control Room on 08081768614 and 07055495413.
The Command emphasized that public cooperation and timely intelligence remain crucial in combating criminal activity and safeguarding communities.
