By Aishat Momoh. O.

Two separate fire outbreaks were recorded in Anambra State on Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, destroying multiple shops but causing no casualties.
The first fire broke out at Nwafor Plaza, off Oby Okoli Avenue near UNIZIK Junction, at about 11:05 pm, while the second occurred at Igiligi Lane, off Godwill Junction around 12:08 am.
Eyewitnesses reported that at Nwafor Plaza, the fire started following a power surge shortly after electricity was restored, quickly engulfing four shops before firefighters arrived. At Igiligi Lane, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Chukwudi Chiketa confirmed both incidents, noting that firefighters acted swiftly to contain the blazes, preventing the flames from spreading to nearby buildings.

According to Chiketa, “Two shops were affected at each location before the fires were brought under control. Operations concluded safely at 11:59 pm at Nwafor Plaza and at 1:23 am at Igiligi Lane.”
The fire service urged residents and business owners to conduct regular safety inspections, install surge protectors, and promptly report any fire incident to the nearest station. Chiketa reaffirmed that the Service remains committed to protecting lives and property across the state.
