Social media personality Tobe Ugeh, popularly known as Tobeszn, has revealed that he never expected his passion for exploring Nigeria to earn him an ambassadorial role.

This week, Tobeszn was named an honorary ambassador for the National Council for Arts and Culture. In an interview with Sunday Scoop, he explained that his journey was driven by curiosity rather than ambition.

“I didn’t see it coming. When I started travelling around Nigeria, I simply wanted to see more. I wanted to visit the place my mother grew up—Kano. Then I travelled to Bauchi, Jigawa, and Yobe. All I knew was that I wanted to see more. I never thought anyone would even care in the beginning,” he said.

Tobeszn added that his desire to explore the country stemmed from a wish to experience places he had previously only read about in books.

“I have always been genuinely curious about what lay beyond Benin City in Edo State, where I grew up. I had read extensively about Nigeria and wanted to see it for myself. When I couldn’t find some of the places I had read about, I decided to discover them on my own and share them with the world,” Tobeszn said.

He added that the honorary recognition marks a shift in the perception of content creation in Nigeria.

“For a long time, being a creator was seen as just a transitional phase rather than a true career. I want to express my gratitude to all Nigerian creators who paved the way and reminded us that hard work yields results. This is for everyone who showed us that creating content is challenging but rewarding, and that nothing is impossible when we choose to pursue our dreams,” he added.
