EPL: GUARDIOLA ADMITS MAN CITY NO LONGER CONTROL TITLE RACE

Pep Guardiola, manager of Manchester City, has acknowledged that the Premier League title race is no longer fully within the club’s control.
City currently trail league leaders Arsenal by seven points, although they have played one game fewer than the Gunners.
Guardiola’s side were held to a 2–2 draw by Nottingham Forest at the Etihad Stadium in their most recent match, while Arsenal secured a 1–0 victory away to Brighton & Hove Albion.
Speaking ahead of their Champions League round-of-16 clash with Real Madrid, Guardiola urged his players to maintain the right mentality.
He said: “It’s unfortunate that the Premier League title is no longer in our hands. Dropping points against Nottingham Forest was a major setback.
“We shouldn’t dwell on it too much. We need to recover, travel to Madrid and prepare properly.
“Hopefully we can perform in a way that reflects who we truly are. I’m not talking about winning or losing, but about behaving like the team we know we are.
“Whenever we play on big occasions against strong opponents, my focus isn’t just on the result. It’s about staying true to ourselves as individuals and as a team.
“After that, you might win or lose, you never know. But that is always my main objective. The players are aware of it because I constantly remind them.”
