BREAKING: SOLUDO INAUGURATED FOR SECOND TERM AS ANAMBRA GOVERNOR

The Anambra State Chukwuma Soludo, and his deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, were sworn in for a second term during a ceremony at the newly renovated Alex Ekwueme Square on Tuesday.

Soludo and his deputy took their oaths of office at around 11:05 a.m., administered by the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Onochie Anyachebelu, pledging allegiance to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The governor and his deputy were joined by their wives and family members during the ceremony. Among the dignitaries in attendance were Vice President Kashim Shettima, and former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan.

The Media had earlier reported that Vice President “,”Vice President of Nigeria”], along with former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, were already in Anambra State ahead of the inauguration ceremony.

Several prominent figures, including elder statesmen like former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku, were also expected to attend.

The event is taking place at the newly renovated Alex Ekwueme Square, with traditional rulers from all 179 communities in the state, as well as monarchs from other parts of Nigeria, in attendance.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo was re-elected on November 8, 2025, on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, which mobilized members from all 326 political wards to participate in the inauguration.

Security has been heightened across the state, with personnel from the police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps, and other agencies deployed to strategic locations.

The governor and his deputy concluded their first term on Sunday with an interdenominational thanksgiving service at the International Convention Centre.
