Damilola Ayinde Marshall, daughter of Fuji icon Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, has declared her intention to contest for a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Marshall, who currently serves as Senior Special Assistant on Tourism to the Lagos State Government, made the announcement in a post shared on Instagram on Tuesday, stating her readiness to represent Surulere Constituency 2.

“I am excited to announce that I, Barr. Damilola Ayinde Marshall, am stepping forward to serve the good people of Surulere Constituency 2 at the Lagos State House of Assembly,” she wrote.

Damilola, who has over a decade of experience in legal practice, said her background has deepened her understanding of governance, justice, and the needs of her community.

She described herself as a results-driven individual committed to leadership and service, expressing confidence in her ability to represent her constituents effectively.

According to her, her background has equipped her to advocate for critical issues, particularly those affecting young people, while amplifying their voices in the legislature.

She added that her decision to run is driven by her belief that her constituency needs fresh, youthful representation at this time.

In the post, she urged voters to prioritise competence and progress, concluding with the message: “Youth Lokan!!! Igbega Eko, Ajumose wa ni.”

She is expected to succeed Mosunmola Rotimi Sangodara, who currently represents the constituency under the All Progressives Congress.

Damilola, the second daughter of Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, holds a law degree from Houdegbe North American University and was called to the Nigerian Bar on December 15, 2015. She also earned a Master of Laws degree from the University of Lagos in 2022.

The Media had earlier reported that Babajide Sanwo-Olu appointed her as Senior Special Assistant on Tourism on May 3, 2024. The appointment was later confirmed in a viral video where KWAM1 publicly appreciated the governor during the coronation and birthday reception of Oba Sikirullah Apena, noting that the message was conveyed at his daughter’s request.

Her declaration has since generated reactions on social media, with notable figures such as Davido and Dayo Amusa expressing support.
