Some players from Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool have shared their thoughts following Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League quarter-final first-leg clash.

PSG secured a 2-0 victory over Liverpool in Paris, courtesy of goals from Désiré Doué and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

The French side will now travel to Anfield for the return leg against the Premier League outfit next week.

Speaking after the match, Kvaratskhelia told Canal+: “We created chances to score more and should have taken them. It was a strong performance. We must stay focused because the atmosphere at Anfield will be intense. We’re ready.”

PSG midfielder Warren Zaïre-Emery echoed similar sentiments, saying: “We had opportunities to add more goals. It’s a bit disappointing, but 2-0 is still a very good result. The tie isn’t over yet. We’ll approach the second leg with the same mindset and aim to win.”

Meanwhile, Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk told TNT Sports: “It was a difficult match, as expected. We defended deep with many players around the box. The first goal came from a deflection, which is unfortunate. I’m not pleased with the defeat, but the positive is that we still have another game next week.”
