IGP ORDERS PROBE INTO SATELLITE TOWN POLICE ALLEGED MISCONDUCT AS OFFICERS FACE DISCIPLINARY REVIEW

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered a full investigation into an alleged case of police misconduct involving officers of the Satellite Division in Lagos State, following a viral video posted by complainant @otpcapalot (Rhapstar) on April 4, 2026.
The video reportedly accused officers on surveillance duty from the division of incivility and harassment toward members of the public during a stop-and-search operation.
In response, the police authorities summoned the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and the officers involved, who have since provided written statements after detailed interviews.
Preliminary findings indicate that the incident in question actually occurred in May 2025, while efforts are ongoing to obtain additional information from the alleged victims of the misconduct.
The Nigeria Police Force stated that a comprehensive investigation is currently underway to establish the facts surrounding the case.
The IGP reiterated his commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring accountability and professionalism in policing duties across the country.
