APGA OUTLINES SCHEDULE FOR SCREENING AND PRIMARIES

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has announced the provisional timetable and schedule of activities for its 2026 primary elections ahead of the selection of candidates for the 2027 general elections.

This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ejimofor Opara, alongside a detailed schedule outlining election dates, form purchase periods, fees, and primary election timelines for various offices.

According to the timetable, all primaries will hold on May 23, 2026, across wards in the respective local government areas of aspirants, using the option A4 voting system. Any appeals arising from the primaries are expected to be concluded by May 28, 2026.

The party also set the cost of its expression of interest forms as follows: President (N25 million), Senate (N6 million), House of Representatives (N4 million), Governorship (N10 million), and State House of Assembly (N2 million).

Similarly, nomination forms will cost N50 million for presidential aspirants, N15 million for Senate, N12 million for House of Representatives, N25 million for governorship, and N6 million for State House of Assembly candidates.

The statement noted that the schedule was approved in line with the revised INEC timetable for the 2027 general elections, as well as provisions of the APGA Constitution 2019 and the Electoral Act 2026.

It further stated that the purchase and submission of expression of interest forms will run from April 20 to May 8, while screening of aspirants is scheduled for May 11 for National Assembly candidates, May 12 for State Assembly aspirants, and May 13 for governorship hopefuls.
