Passengers at the domestic terminal of the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos were left stranded and frustrated on Saturday after an early morning flight operated by Air Peace was delayed indefinitely.
The flight, initially scheduled to depart at 7:00 a.m., was reportedly postponed without a clear departure time, leading to tension and agitation among travellers at the terminal.
Eyewitnesses said the situation escalated after passengers were informed of the delay, with many expressing anger over the uncertainty surrounding their travel plans.
In a statement issued via its official X handle, Air Peace attributed the disruption to ongoing aviation fuel shortages affecting operations across the country.
“We wish to inform you that flights departing from some of our terminals may experience delays due to the current aviation fuel supply constraints affecting flight operations nationwide,” the airline stated.
The carrier explained that limited fuel availability had significantly impacted scheduled departures, leading to the disruption experienced by passengers.
Air Peace said it was working with relevant partners to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and minimise inconvenience to travellers.
While appealing for patience, the airline urged affected passengers to stay updated through its support channels and reiterated its commitment to safety and timely service once conditions improve.
