TROOPS RECOVER FOUR AK-47 RIFLES, ARREST TWO SUSPECTS IN DELTA

Troops of the 63 Brigade/Sector 1 of the Joint Task Force, South-South, under Operation Delta Safe, have recovered four AK-47 rifles from suspected criminals during an operation in Ogidigben Community, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.
The operation also resulted in the arrest of two suspects.
Details of the operation were disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, 63 Brigade Nigerian Army, Asaba, Captain Iliyasu Bawa-Rijau, and made available to journalists in Warri on Tuesday.
According to the statement, the military operation was launched in response to reports of sporadic gunfire within the community.
Acting on credible intelligence, troops swiftly moved into the area and recovered four AK-47 rifles, six magazines, 106 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, two knives, ten machetes, and four pairs of rain boots.
The Army spokesperson stated that the arrested suspects are currently in custody and undergoing further investigation.
Commending the troops for their determination and professionalism, the Commander of the 63 Brigade, Brigadier General Moronfolu Abdulmoshood Shonibare, urged them to maintain the momentum of ongoing operations.
He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to preventing criminal groups from operating freely in the region and warned individuals involved in illegal arms possession or other criminal activities to desist, stressing that security forces would intensify efforts to apprehend offenders.
