Businesswoman and socialite Aisha Achimugu has stated that her company lawfully obtained an oil block through a transparent bidding process carried out between 2022 and 2024.

She made the clarification on Monday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.

the MEDIA had earlier reported that Achimugu denied allegations that $13 million was discovered in her residence, maintaining that only $50,000 and N13 million were recovered during a search of her home.

She explained that her company took part in two separate bidding exercises: the deep offshore bid round held between 2022 and 2023, and a mini bid round conducted from 2023 to 2024.

According to her, the firm, which operates in the oil and gas sector, satisfied all the necessary requirements and eventually emerged successful.

The MEDIA reports that her remarks come amid ongoing scrutiny by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which had previously declared her wanted over allegations of criminal conspiracy and money laundering.

The anti-graft agency also reportedly conducted a search of her residence as part of its investigation, with conflicting accounts regarding the amount of money recovered during the operation.

She said: “There are two bid processes—the deep offshore bid round that took place between 2022 and 2023, and another mini bid round that happened between 2023 and 2024.

“We participated in these processes. We operate an oil and gas company, and we have the assets we are dealing with. I am very audacious and ambitious, and I have the team to support it.

“We went through the process and, by the grace of God, we won transparently. It was a public process and not a selective one.”
