A human rights lawyer in Nasarawa State, Yahaya Dauda Kana, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Kana announced his departure from the ruling party on Tuesday, saying the move was informed by his decision to pursue his political ambition under a new platform, following calls from his supporters to contest the Kokona West Constituency seat.
He has since joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP), signalling a major shift in his political alignment as preparations for the 2027 elections intensify.
His defection reportedly followed a recent visit to former Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, at his residence in Wakama, which observers believe formed part of wider political consultations ahead of his formal declaration.
