Rashidi Ladoja has called for the adoption of community policing across Nigeria, saying the initiative would significantly curb criminal activities in Ibadan and the country at large.

The monarch made the call on Saturday during a luncheon hosted by the Olubadan Palace for participants of the Executive Intelligence Management Course 19, 2026, of the Institute for Security Studies. The event was held at the Banquet Hall of the Olubadan Palace in Oke Aremo, Ibadan.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Olubadan, Olugbemiga Ayoade, Ladoja said community policing would help reduce crime to the barest minimum if properly implemented nationwide.

The traditional ruler explained that the luncheon was organised to appreciate the course participants and provide an avenue for interaction following their week-long study tour of Oyo State, aimed at showcasing the state’s achievements and potentials as a pace-setter.

Ladoja also urged successful Nigerians who had lived or passed through Ibadan to give back to the city by contributing to its unity, growth, and development.

Earlier, the team leader and Director of Studies, Halimah Ibrahim, commended the Olubadan and his council for the warm reception extended to the delegation, describing it as a reflection of the hospitality and accommodating nature of Ibadanland.

She also prayed for good health, wisdom, and a peaceful reign for the monarch.

The occasion was attended by several traditional rulers, community leaders, security representatives, and notable personalities from across Ibadanland and beyond.
