PETER OBI MEETS US CONSUL GENERAL, EXPRESSES HOPE FOR CREDIBLE 2027 ELECTIONS

Chieftain of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, on Tuesday met with the United States Consul General, Mr. Rick Swart, in Lagos.

Obi disclosed the meeting via his X handle, noting that their discussions centred on strengthening bilateral relations.

He said they explored ways to promote credible, transparent elections in Nigeria, free from interference, while also creating an environment where all political parties, particularly opposition groups, can operate and contribute effectively.

The meeting also covered trade and investment opportunities between both countries. Obi added that he was accompanied by Dr. Adefolaseye Adebomi Adebayo.

According to him, the engagement was productive, expressing optimism that future elections in Nigeria would be more credible and transparent.
