Hon. Sa’adu Wada Taura, the lawmaker representing Ringim and Taura Federal Constituency, has lost his bid for a return ticket ahead of the next election cycle following the adoption of a consensus arrangement by party stakeholders.
He was edged out by Hon. Yusha’u Muhammad, who emerged as the preferred candidate after a screening exercise conducted by a committee set up by Governor Umar Namadi.
The committee reviewed all aspirants and shortlisted three candidates before settling on a final consensus choice. Reports indicate that at least eleven aspirants initially showed interest in the seat.
The development comes amid rising dissatisfaction within the constituency over some of Taura’s recent actions.
The lawmaker had previously faced criticism after releasing a list of constituents he claimed to have supported financially since 2023, a move that triggered backlash, with some beneficiaries rejecting the disclosure and returning the funds.
In a related development, Hon. Aminu Sule Sankara, who represents Ringim Constituency in the Jigawa State House of Assembly, also lost his return ticket.
He has been replaced by Hon. Hamza Muhammad Ustaz, who emerged through the same consensus process.
