Paul Pogba chats about France’s infamous N’Golo Kante chant with Lionel Messi in Dubai

While France were losing to the Netherlands on Friday night, Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba was spotted deep in conversation with Barcelona star Lionel Messi.
The Frenchman missed United’s last match before the international break, a 3-1 defeat against rivals City, due to a small injury and was subsequently excluded from Les Bleus’ latest squad.
He has used the time off to holiday in Dubai, where he happened to bump into Messi and his wife at Salt
Bae’s Turkish steak house.
The pair posed for pictures and spoke for a long time together, with Pogba showing his talent for languages by conversing in fluent Spanish.
Rather brilliantly, one of the topics of conversation was France’s chant for N’Golo Kante – which includes the line, ‘He stopped Leo Messi’ – which Messi laughed out loud at before gesturing and saying, ‘That’s a lie!’
Nevertheless, Pogba’s encounter with Messi will have got United fans a little nervous – and Barca fans rather excited – given how heavily he has been linked with a move to Camp Nou in the past.
The 25-year-old has intimated in the past that he is unhappy under Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford, though their relationship has noticeable improved since a frosty exchange in training was picked up by television cameras.
Pogba opened the door to a potential move back in September, saying: ‘I still have a contract, I am playing there at the moment, but who knows what will happen in the next few months.’
While Pogba was enjoying steak and chatting to Messi, France suffered a shock 2-0 defeat to Holland in the UEFA Nations League and struggled in the absence of their midfield talisman.
Georginio Wijanldum and Memphis Depay both got on the score sheet for the hosts as they relegated Germany, and they could even progress to next summer’s tournament at the expense of world champions France if they can win their final game.
