Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has discussed the possibility of Nigeria’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations semi-final clash with Morocco being decided by a penalty shootout.
So far in the tournament, only the Round of 16 match between Mali and Tunisia has gone to spot-kicks.

Chelle also recalled Nigeria’s recent penalty heartbreak, when they lost to the Democratic Republic of Congo in the intercontinental playoff for the 2026 World Cup last November.
When asked about preparations for a potential penalty shootout against the Atlas Lions, Chelle said, “I will go to the mosque to pray to win if we get to a penalty shootout.”
If Nigeria defeats the hosts whether in regular time or on penalties, they will face either Senegal or Egypt in Sunday’s final.
