A four-man armed robbery gang on Friday terrorised residents of Ilorin, Kwara State, shooting a motorist and escaping with an undisclosed amount of cash believed to have been packed in several cartons.

The incident, which happened directly opposite the Kwara State Correspondents’ Chapel office, threw the area into panic as the masked robbers fired multiple shots before fleeing in an ash-coloured Toyota Corolla with a faded number plate.

Eyewitnesses said the attackers appeared to have trailed their victim, who was driving a grey Toyota Sienna with registration number AA 693 GT.

“They must have followed him. They shot at his vehicle from behind and deflated his two left tyres before taking the money packed in four big cartons,” one witness recounted.

The victim, said to be transporting cash for an undisclosed assignment, sustained a gunshot wound to his palm
