ARMED ROBBERS ATTACK TSU STUDENTS’ RESIDENCES IN JALINGO

Suspected armed robbers have reportedly attacked several residences occupied by students of Taraba State University (TSU) in the ATC area of Jalingo, the state capital.

The incident reportedly occurred between 1am and 3am on Monday, September 21, 2026, as the assailants allegedly moved from one student residence to another, carting away phones, laptops, power banks and other valuables.

The attack, according to the media, occurred days after armed robbers reportedly invaded the hostels of the School of Nursing and Midwifery in Jalingo.

Residences reportedly affected included Dior Compound, Strawers Villa, Mumbai Compound and 3 Brothers Villa.

A source within the university community, who identified himself as Abel Muda, said several other student residences along the Alaba-to-Agric Gate axis were also targeted during the operation.

Some students who spoke with the press alleged that the robbers broke doors and windows to gain entry into some of the residences before stealing their belongings.

Some students were also said to have fled into nearby bushes for safety, reportedly because of the number of assailants involved in the attack.

No injuries had been confirmed as of the time of filing this report. However, the affected students were said to have suffered material losses and psychological distress.

The students appealed to the TSU management, ATC community leaders, the Taraba State Police Command and other security agencies to intensify night patrols and improve security around student residences.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the police nor the university management had issued an official statement confirming the incident.
