Nollywood actress and entrepreneur, Carolyna Hutchings, has announced her exit from The Real Housewives of Lagos (RHOLagos), saying she has moved on from the reality television show and wants to be excluded from matters relating to the programme.

Hutchings, who was part of the original cast when the show premiered in 2022, made the announcement in a lengthy Instagram post on Monday.

The actress returned for the third season of the Showmax reality series after taking a break from its second season.

Explaining her decision, Hutchings said she was tired of being associated with controversies involving other cast members even after the show ended.

According to her, her participation in the reality show continued to shape public perception of her career, private life and relationships, despite having a life and career beyond the programme.

“It is exhausting being part of a reality TV show in Nigeria,” she wrote.

Hutchings noted that she had spent more than two decades in the entertainment industry, appearing in over 60 films, producing three award-winning movies and creating jobs for hundreds of people.

She said she enjoyed acting, storytelling and being in front of the camera but described herself as an “extreme introvert” who was selective about the people she allowed into her personal space.

The actress also addressed perceptions about her relationships with other RHOLagos cast members, insisting that she did not consider any of them her friends outside the show.

“I have said this several times, but apparently it needs to be said again: No cast member of RHOL is my friend, not on the show, not after the show,” she stated.

She said her kindness should not be mistaken for friendship, adding that people who had been her friends before the reality show knew the reasons some of those relationships ended.

Hutchings also questioned why a programme that ended in early 2025 continued to influence public discussions about her in 2026.

“What I find unfair is that a show that ended in the first two months of 2025 is still being used to define who I am in 2026,” she said.

She maintained that she had consistently made it clear during the programme, on social media and in a television interview that she did not form cliques or friendships on RHOLagos.

“If I have an issue with someone, I address that person directly, as I have always done fearlessly. That is how I have lived my life,” she added.

The actress further complained about being dragged into disputes involving other cast members, alleging that videos and social media posts unrelated to the show had been used to connect her to controversies involving the housewives.

She therefore appealed to members of the public and bloggers to stop associating her with the personal lives, disputes and activities of other cast members.

“The show is over for me. I have moved on,” Hutchings declared.

“I am living my life. I am doing what I love. I am happy. I am enjoying my reality. I am building a legacy my children will be proud of.”

Although she described her participation in RHOLagos as an enjoyable chapter of her life, Hutchings said that chapter had now come to an end.

“The show was a chapter of my life that I enjoyed. That chapter is closed. It is a new dawn, and I believe it is leading to something even more beautiful,” she said.

She, however, left open the possibility of returning to the reality series in the future, stressing that any such decision would be hers.

“If I decide to return for another season, trust me, I will deliver excellently, as I always do whether as the saint or the villain,” she said.

Hutchings expressed appreciation to the producers, Showmax and Africa Magic for giving her the opportunity to be part of the franchise, describing her experience on the show as memorable.

She concluded by asking the public to respect her decision to move on from the programme.

“But for now… let me enjoy my reality in peace,” she said.

“Leave me out of the drama.”
