CHARLY BOY EXPLAINS WHY HE LINKED ISBAE U TO OBASANJO FOR INTERVIEW

Veteran entertainer and activist, Charly Boy, has explained how he facilitated the meeting between former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Nigerian comedian and content creator, Isbae U, for the popular YouTube show, Curiosity Made Me Ask.
Charly Boy disclosed this in a post on X on Monday while reflecting on Obasanjo’s appearance on the viral programme.
According to him, the interview showed the impact of creating opportunities for young Nigerians while encouraging older generations to embrace new ideas and platforms.
“Sometimes, the greatest thing you fit give a young person no be money. Na opportunity. Look at wetin happen when Baba entered Bae U’s world,” he wrote.
Charly Boy noted that Obasanjo, despite his age and extensive experience, embraced the unconventional nature of the programme and engaged with Isbae U on his own terms.
He said the former president’s willingness to participate in the show demonstrated what could happen when older and younger generations interact in a relaxed and open environment.
Charly Boy also revealed that he played a role in bringing both men together, saying he believed in the young people behind the show enough to introduce them to the former president.
Obasanjo’s appearance on Curiosity Made Me Ask attracted widespread attention after he joined Isbae U in the show’s trademark humour and banter.
The former president also responded to questions about contemporary Nigerian pop culture, including whether he knew music producer Don Jazzy, dancer Poco Lee and content creator Carter Efe.
Reflecting on the broader lesson from the encounter, Charly Boy urged older Nigerians to do more than encourage young people to succeed, stressing the importance of creating access and opportunities for them.
“To the older generation: don’t only tell young people to succeed. Give them room. Open doors. Recommend them. Trust them with opportunities,” he said.
He also advised young Nigerians to prepare themselves to maximise opportunities when they arise.
“To the younger generation: don’t wait for somebody to hand you a future. Build something worth believing in. When opportunity comes, be ready,” he added.
Charly Boy called for stronger collaboration between generations, saying such partnerships could help both younger and older Nigerians grow and create a lasting legacy.
