Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have arrested four suspected arms traffickers across Imo and Delta States in a coordinated intelligence-led operation.
The arrest was confirmed on Monday by the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, during a press briefing in Asaba.
According to him, the operation followed the investigation of an earlier case involving the unlawful possession of a Beretta pistol recovered at a motor park in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area on 1 May 2026.
The suspects were identified as Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, Clifford Boleyelefa, Amadi Princewill, and Amadi Felix Chibuike.
CP Oyeniyi explained that the breakthrough came after sustained intelligence gathering and investigative efforts by police operatives, which led to the arrest of the suspects in both Bayelsa and Imo States.
He said Emmanuel Chukwuemeka was first arrested in Bayelsa on 4 May 2026 alongside his roommate, whose phone was allegedly used to facilitate the purchase of the firearm.
During interrogation, Chukwuemeka reportedly confessed to buying the weapon from Amadi Princewill for ₦290,000 and selling it to another suspect identified as Desmond (currently at large) for ₦380,000, who allegedly facilitated its movement to Effurun for further distribution.
Following his confession, police trailed and arrested Amadi Princewill in Imo State on 15 May 2026. Princewill, in turn, allegedly admitted to purchasing the firearm from Amadi Felix Chibuike for ₦200,000.
Subsequently, Amadi Felix Chibuike was also arrested in Owerri, Imo State, on 16 May 2026.
The police commissioner noted that all suspects are believed to be members of the Black Axe confraternity.
He added that investigations are ongoing, while efforts are underway to apprehend other fleeing suspects, including the said Desmond, who remains at large. The suspects are expected to be charged to court upon completion of investigations.
