GUNMEN KILL ONE, ABDUCT TRADER IN ONDO COMMUNITY

Unknown gunmen on Thursday evening attacked residents of Ayede Ogbese community in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, killing one man and abducting a trader.
The assailants, said to number about 10, reportedly stormed the community around 8:30pm, shooting dead 34-year-old Okudili Okoro and whisking away a woman identified as Mrs. Orogun.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer for Ondo State, Mr. Olayinka Ayanlade, said the kidnappers arrived in two unregistered vehicles — a silver-coloured Honda EOD, which fled towards Akure, and a grey-coloured Toyota Camry, which headed towards Owo.
“Upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, directed all tactical commanders to do everything possible to rescue the woman unhurt and ensure those responsible are brought to justice,” Ayanlade stated.
He added that the CP had visited Ayede Ogbese to assess the situation and coordinate security operations aimed at rescuing the victim and apprehending the perpetrators.
