Director-General of the National Sports Commission, Bukola Olopade, has dismissed claims that members of the Super Falcons have yet to receive their tournament bonuses.

Speaking to The media , Olopade confirmed that all match bonuses have been paid to the players, except for one or two whose payments were delayed due to Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) account issues.

He explained that the N150m presidential reward and three-bedroom apartments promised to each player by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu after their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) triumph are still in process.

According to him, discussions with relevant authorities are ongoing, and construction of the houses has already begun.

Olopade described reports suggesting non-payment of bonuses as “misleading,” adding that even team captain Rasheedat Ajibade has denied making statements to that effect.

However, Ajibade had previously told the press that the players were yet to receive the N150m and housing assurances, though she did not directly dispute the payment of match bonuses.

The development comes amid mixed reports regarding the fulfilment of the federal government’s pledges to the victorious national women’s football team.
