IMPRESSIVE VOTER TURNOUT RECORDED AT AREGBESOLA’S POLLING UNIT IN ILESA

An impressive turnout of voters was recorded at Ifofin Unit 001, Ward 8, Ilesa East Local Government Area of Osun State, on Saturday as the governorship election got underway across the state.
The polling unit is the registered voting centre of the National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, Rauf Aregbesola, a former governor of the state.
A voter in the area, Adeniyi Taye, commended residents for turning out in large numbers to exercise their civic responsibility.
“We are many in the area. You can see from the large turnout here,” Taye said.
Three polling booths are located close to one another in the area, with voting commencing in two of the units.
However, voting was initially delayed at Ward 8, Unit 10, following a reported shortage of logistics.
The Presiding Officer, Elizabeth Adaramaja, told journalists that chairs and tables had not been provided for the Independent National Electoral Commission’s ad hoc staff.
However, the ADC party agent, Samson Grace, said the issue had been resolved and voting had commenced.
“The issue has been resolved. Voting is going on now. We had a little delay, but we have resolved the situation,” she said.
As of 11:15 a.m., when our correspondent left the area, Aregbesola had yet to cast his ballot.
