INEC OSUN BEGINS PREPARATIONS FOR 2025 VOTER REGISTRATION, 2026 GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION

As Nigeria gears up for the 2026 Osun State Governorship Election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced early preparations with a strategic meeting aimed at equipping its staff for the upcoming Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise scheduled for 2025.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Osun State, Dr. Mutiu Olaleke Agboke, convened a crucial engagement with INEC personnel, including Heads of Departments, Electoral Officers (EOs), and Assistant Electoral Officers (AEOs) from all 30 Local Government Areas in the state.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Agboke emphasized the critical role of professionalism, integrity, and operational readiness in the success of the CVR and the smooth conduct of the 2026 polls. He urged the commission’s staff to uphold the commission’s core values and to demonstrate a high level of dedication in serving the people of Osun State.
Dr. Agboke announced that the CVR exercise will begin with an online pre-registration phase starting August 18, 2025, allowing eligible Nigerians to begin the process from the comfort of their homes. This will be followed by in-person registration, which will commence on August 25, 2025, at two designated centres in each of the state’s local government areas, in addition to the INEC state office.
The exercise will accommodate first-time voters, individuals seeking to update their Permanent Voter Card (PVC) details, and those wishing to transfer their voting locations.
The REC reaffirmed INEC’s commitment to transparency and inclusiveness, encouraging citizens to take full advantage of the registration exercise to ensure their participation in the electoral process. As preparations intensify, INEC Osun State is expected to roll out further sensitization campaigns and training for field officers in the weeks ahead.
