Justice Abike-Fadipe of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja has condemned in strong terms the actions of Ayodele Toyosi, the promoter of Reaprite Global Limited and Agrorite Limited, along with his legal counsel, Chukwuemeka Maduagwu, for allegedly presenting a forged medical report in a bid to delay trial proceedings.

At the resumed hearing, counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Deborah Ademu-Etteh, told the court that investigations uncovered significant irregularities in the medical excuse earlier submitted to justify the defendant’s absence from court. Contrary to the claims made in the report, there was no referral from the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan to Reddington Hospital in Lagos, and no evidence of any scheduled surgical procedure at the said hospital.

The forged medical document, previously submitted by Toyosi’s lawyer, was aimed at misleading the court. In response, the court had earlier issued a bench warrant for the defendant’s arrest due to his repeated non-appearance.

Following these revelations, Justice Abike-Fadipe revoked the defendant’s bail and ordered his immediate remand in a correctional facility. She further condemned the conduct as an unacceptable attempt to obstruct justice and warned against similar future acts of dishonesty in the courtroom.

Toyosi is currently facing an 11-count charge alongside his companies, Reaprite Global Limited and Agrorite Limited, brought by the EFCC. The charges border on obtaining money under false pretences and stealing, involving over ₦600 million and \$50,000.

The EFCC alleged that the defendant lured investors with promises of high returns through non-existent agricultural export schemes. Several victims have since come forward, claiming they were deceived and defrauded by the investment platforms.

Justice Abike-Fadipe has adjourned the matter till October 21, 2025, for further hearing, reaffirming the court’s commitment to upholding the integrity of the judicial process and ensuring that justice is not derailed by fraudulent tactics.
