Inter Milan revived their struggling UEFA Champions League campaign with a convincing 3-0 victory over Dutch side Feyenoord on Tuesday, with German defender Yann Bisseck scoring a superb opening goal.

The three-time European champions had lost their first two matches in the competition but displayed their superior quality against a disappointing Feyenoord side that struggled to cope with their pace and attacking threat.

Playing in front of a lively home crowd at De Kuip Stadium in Rotterdam, Inter took control early and opened the scoring in the eighth minute.

Bisseck was afforded space on the edge of the penalty area, where he turned and unleashed a superb curling left-footed effort that beat Feyenoord goalkeeper Tjark Ernst.

Feyenoord struggled to cope with Inter’s high pressing as the visitors dominated possession and controlled much of the opening exchanges.

The hosts had to wait until the 30th minute for their first meaningful opportunity, when a well-worked exchange of passes set up Anis Hadj Moussa, whose effort was blocked.

Inter soon doubled their advantage through Pio Esposito.

England international Djed Spence found space on the right and fired towards goal. His effort took a deflection and looped into the air, allowing Esposito to head the ball into the net from close range.

Feyenoord’s troubles continued after the restart as their defence gave Piotr Zielinski room to advance towards goal.

The Polish midfielder capitalised on the opportunity, firing a powerful shot against the post and into the net in the 54th minute to make it 3-0.

With the contest effectively settled, Inter manager Cristian Chivu made several changes, including withdrawing striker Marcus Thuram.

The match was briefly interrupted midway through the second half after fireworks launched from outside the stadium landed on the pitch and roof.

Play subsequently resumed, but Feyenoord failed to mount a serious comeback as Inter comfortably managed the remainder of the game.

The victory lifted Inter to a more respectable position in the Champions League standings, while Feyenoord remained with just one win and faced an uphill battle to reach the knockout stage.

Feyenoord will next host Porto in the competition, while Inter are scheduled to welcome Stuttgart.
