LASPA BEGINS ENFORCEMENT OF 2026 PARKING PERMITS, WARNS DEFAULTERS

The Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) has commenced enforcement of the 2026 parking permit regulations across all its operational zones in the state, as part of efforts to ensure compliance, promote accountability and improve parking management.
The General Manager of LASPA, Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu, disclosed this on Tuesday, noting that the enforcement marks the expiration of the extended grace period given to customers to regularise their operations and obtain their 2026 parking permits.
Adelabu explained that the extension was provided to give affected customers adequate time to fulfil their obligations and comply with the Authority’s requirements.
She said the enforcement exercise was necessary to ensure adherence to laws governing the transport sector and streamline parking management across Lagos.
The LASPA boss expressed concern that many customers were yet to obtain their 2026 parking permits despite repeated appeals, direct communications, reminders and the extended grace period.
According to her, the Authority had earlier issued 2026 Demand Notices to all registered customers, outlining the applicable fees, requirements and procedures for obtaining the permits.
She therefore urged customers who were yet to regularise their operations to do so immediately to avoid sanctions for continued non-compliance.
Adelabu stressed that the enforcement was not intended to be punitive but was necessary to restore order, accountability and efficiency within the state’s parking system.
She noted that valid parking permits and accurate customer records were crucial to LASPA’s ability to effectively plan, monitor, regulate and manage parking infrastructure and services across the state.
The General Manager further warned that customers who default on the 2026 Demand Notices would face severe penalties, including substantial fines and immediate suspension of operations, in line with the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018.
She advised affected customers to regularise their operations and obtain the required parking permits without further delay.
Adelabu also assured customers that LASPA personnel were available to provide prompt assistance and guidance, including support with the Authority’s online payment and registration portals.
While reaffirming LASPA’s commitment to developing an efficient and sustainable parking system for residents, businesses and visitors, she urged members of the public to cooperate with enforcement officers and report unauthorised parking activities to the Authority.
