The Lagos Chapter of the Nigerian Institution of Geotechnical Engineers (NIGE), a division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, is holding its 2026 workshop in Lagos on Saturday, October 3, 2026.

Currently holding at the Lagos State Public Works Corporation, Ojodu-Berger, Lagos, the workshop is themed, “The Relevance of Effective Geotechnical Investigation and Application of Geosynthetic Materials to the Stability of Structures.”

Discussions at the workshop are centred on the importance of sound geotechnical site investigation in ensuring the stability and safety of engineering structures, as well as the application and cost-effectiveness of geosynthetic materials in road pavement, slopes and embankments.

Scheduled for 10am to 12noon, the first technical session focuses on “The Relevance of Sound and Effective Geotechnical Site Investigation to the Stability and Safety of Engineering Structures.”

Engr. Dada Festus Bamidele, C.Eng., MNSE, MNICE, MNistruct.E., MNIGE, is delivering the first presentation.

A second session, scheduled for 1pm to 3pm, is titled “Cost Effectiveness of Geosynthetic Materials in the Design of Road Pavement, Slopes and Embankment.”
