OKOBI THRILLED TO RETURN TO SUPER FALCONS AFTER MATERNITY LEAVE

Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene has expressed her delight at rejoining the Nigeria women’s national football team after spending an extended period away from the 10-time African champions, The media reports.
Okobi last made an appearance for the Super Falcons at the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The Ottawa Rapid midfielder was left out of Nigeria’s squad for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The 32-year-old stepped away from football following her pregnancy and the birth of her child.
Okobi was handed a surprise call-up for the Super Falcons’ double-header friendly matches against Cameroon last week.

The former Falconets star said she feels privileged to receive the invitation.
“I’m excited and happy to be back with the team. I’m grateful and honoured. For now, I just want to take things one step at a time rather than talk about expectations,” Okobi said in an interview with the Super Falcons media.
“I’ve seen several messages and criticisms on social media, but I don’t pay attention to them. I understand what I went through after childbirth. It’s a blessing, not a setback.”
The midfielder has earned 27 caps for the Super Falcons.
