OKPEBHOLO INAUGURATES FOUR EDO BODIES, CHARGES MEMBERS ON INTEGRITY

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has inaugurated four government bodies, urging the newly appointed members to carry out their responsibilities with integrity, humility and a strong commitment to public service.
The inaugurated bodies are the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Consumer Protection Committee and Edo State Rural Access Roads Agency.
Speaking during the ceremony at the Government House in Benin City on Thursday, Okpebholo said the appointments came with a duty to serve the people of Edo State diligently and responsibly.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Patrick Ebojele, the governor reminded the appointees that their responsibilities went beyond their obligations to the state, stressing that they were also accountable before God.
“I wish to remind you that this is not merely a responsibility to the people; it is also a responsibility before God,” Okpebholo said.
He urged the appointees to put the interests of Edo residents above personal considerations and work collectively to deliver meaningful results.
The governor also called for unity among members of the various bodies, saying their decisions and actions should have a positive and lasting impact on the people.
He prayed for wisdom, strength and divine guidance for the appointees as they discharge the responsibilities entrusted to them.
Responding on behalf of the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, its Chairman, Very Rev. Fr. Alfred Aronegbe Agbonlahor, expressed appreciation to the governor for the confidence reposed in the members.
Agbonlahor assured that the board would work diligently to advance the interests and welfare of Christian pilgrims in the state.
Similarly, the Chairman of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mallam Musa Muhammad Uduimoh, thanked the governor for the opportunity to serve and commended his administration for its attention to the welfare of pilgrims.
He pledged that the board would work with the government to provide efficient, transparent and satisfactory services to intending pilgrims.
The Chairman of the Consumer Protection Committee, Iyamu Osaro, also appreciated the governor for setting up the committee and promised that its members would remain committed to protecting consumers while promoting fairness and accountability in commercial activities across Edo State.
Meanwhile, Momodu Oghenakhoghie Goodluck was inaugurated as the Director-General of the Edo State Rural Access Roads Agency.
The ceremony was witnessed by the Deputy Governor, Dennis Idahosa; Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Yakubu Musa; government officials and other dignitaries.
