A tragic motorcycle accident in Jigawa State has claimed the life of a young boy and left four others with severe injuries. The incident occurred on Friday along the Kafin Hausa–Auno, Sabon Gari Ruba Road in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area.

According to a statement released on Saturday by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) spokesperson, Badruddeen Tijjani, the crash happened at about 2:20 p.m. The motorcycle, carrying six young individuals returning from the farm, reportedly caught fire on impact, inflicting serious burns on five of the riders.

The victims were identified as Iliya Ashura Makera (15), Babanan Musa (22), Mubarak Ibrahim Tahir (14), Abdullmumuni Garba (12), and Abdulsalam Garba (14).

NSCDC operatives from the Kafin Hausa Divisional Office, led by CSC Nehemiah John Gata, quickly responded to the scene and evacuated the victims to the General Hospital, Kafin Hausa, for urgent medical attention.

Sadly, Abdullmumuni Garba, one of the injured victims, was referred to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital due to the severity of his injuries but died on the way.

The NSCDC Command in Jigawa, under the leadership of Commandant Bala Bodinga, extended condolences to the bereaved family and is supporting the victims’ families during this difficult time.

Bodinga emphasized the need for responsible motorcycle usage, particularly among youths, urging riders to obey traffic laws and avoid overloading. He also called on parents, guardians, and community leaders to intensify awareness on road safety and the dangers of reckless riding.

“The safety of our youth must remain a priority,” Bodinga said. “We must all work together to prevent further loss of young lives on our roads.”
