PDP EXPRESSES CONDOLENCES TO FAMILIES OF BOAT MISHAP VICTIMS IN SOKOTO

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sokoto State division, has expressed condolences to the families of the individuals who perished in the recent maritime tragedy at Kojiyo River in Goronyo Local Government Area.
This was affirmed in a communiqué released to the media in Sokoto on Tuesday by the party’s state Publicity Secretary, Hassan Sanyinnawal.
The PDP urged the authorities concerned to intensify rescue operations to account for those still missing and to provide urgent support to the affected families.
Sanyinnawal further remarked that the party was devoted to cooperating with the pertinent agencies to ensure that the families of the victims received the requisite support.
The party also urged the government to prioritize safety protocols on the waterways to avert a recurrence of such disasters, emphasizing that the incident should act as a catalyst for enhancing the safety of riverine communities.
“To the grieving families, may the spirits of the departed rest in everlasting peace, and may their relatives find comfort in the outpouring of affection and support from compassionate Nigerians during this challenging period,” he conveyed.
The party assured the citizens of the state of its solidarity, sharing in their sorrow and praying for the safe return of those still unaccounted for.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that on Sunday, a vessel transporting 51 passengers, goods, and motorcycles capsized at the Kojiyo River.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Monday confirmed the rescue of 26 individuals, while the search for 25 missing passengers remains underway.
