The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, commenced a new phase of project inaugurations and launches on Tuesday, beginning with the recently refurbished Phase 2 Water Treatment Plant at Lower Usuma Dam located in Ushafa, Bwari Area Council.

The development comes barely six weeks after the minister concluded a 16-day series of projects commissioning across the FCT, which ended on July 3.

In accordance with the timetable disseminated by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media, Wike will initiate the construction and enhancement of water supply to peripheral towns on Wednesday, commencing with Bwari Township in the Bwari Area Council (Lot 1).

The initiative will progress on Thursday with the launch of water projects in Karu town and its surroundings within the Abuja Municipal Area Council (Lot 2).

It is noteworthy that during the commissioning of the Greater Abuja Water Supply Project on June 16, Wike revealed that the FCT Administration entered into a new agreement during President Bola Tinubu’s 2023 visit to China.

He stated that the agreement aimed at extending water supply to neighboring communities, including Bwari, Kubwa, and Karu.

Wike assured that the procurement processes for the projects were approaching completion and committed to the timely execution of the works.
