POLICE ARREST 25-YEAR-OLD SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER OVER 2023 KILLING

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old suspected kidnapper, Olisa Oyelu, also known as “Obele,” over his alleged involvement in kidnapping and armed robbery.
Oyelu was reportedly linked to a 2023 kidnapping operation that resulted in the death of the victim.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday, saying the arrest followed sustained intelligence gathering and detailed investigations by police operatives.
According to Ikenga, operatives from the State Criminal Investigation Department arrested the suspect in the early hours of Wednesday, September 23.

He said Oyelu was allegedly an active member of the gang involved in the kidnapping operation and the last identified member of a notorious armed robbery and kidnapping syndicate reportedly led by a suspect known as “Pincode.”
The police spokesperson said the investigation began after the 2023 incident, with operatives working to identify, arrest and prosecute everyone allegedly connected to the crime.
Ikenga added that Oyelu would be transferred to the correctional centre after the completion of the investigation, where Pincode and four other suspects are already being held pending the determination of their case by the court.
The command described the arrest as a significant development in the investigation and reaffirmed its commitment to bringing all individuals allegedly involved in the crime to justice.
The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Ama, commended the police operatives for their perseverance, dedication and intelligence-led approach to the investigation.
Ama assured residents of the state that the command would continue its efforts to track down criminal elements operating within and outside Anambra State.
He also appealed to members of the public to provide the police with credible and timely information, stressing that maintaining security is a shared responsibility.
