RESIDENTS SCOOP FUEL AFTER TANKER SPILLS CONTENTS ON LAGOS-IBADAN EXPRESSWAY

Dozens of residents were on Saturday seen scooping fuel after a tanker spilled its contents along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, near the Ibadan-Ijebu-Ode Road.
Videos from the scene showed men and women rushing to the area with buckets, jerrycans and other containers to collect the spilled petroleum product.
Some residents were seen scooping the fuel from drainage channels and other areas where it had accumulated, despite the risk of fire and explosion.
The incident attracted the attention of officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps, alongside personnel of the Federal and State Fire Services, who moved to secure the area and contain the situation.
The emergency responders were deployed to manage the risks associated with the fuel spill and prevent a possible fire outbreak or other disaster, particularly as residents continued to gather around the scene.
Authorities typically warn members of the public against approaching or scooping spilled petroleum products due to the high risk of ignition and explosion.
