Activist Omoyele Sowore has criticised Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, over his decision to endorse President Bola Tinubu for re-election less than 24 hours after being declared winner of the state’s governorship election.

Sowore expressed his criticism in a post on his official X account on Monday, August 17, 2026, while questioning the deaths recorded during the violence that preceded and accompanied the election.

The activist alleged that nearly 50 people were killed in the violence and questioned why the deaths had not received adequate attention from political actors.

“These evil people had to sacrifice close to 50 lives in violence before and during the Osun election, all just to prove that ‘agreement is agreement,’” Sowore wrote.

He also faulted Adeleke for supporting Tinubu’s re-election bid, alleging that the governor’s decision was influenced by their shared Yoruba identity.

Sowore further questioned the circumstances surrounding the reported deaths and called for investigations into those responsible for the violence.

“Who killed them? Who ordered or enabled the violence? Who is investigating their deaths? Where is the justice for their families?” he asked.

The activist described the situation as unacceptable and called for accountability for the victims and their families.
