The Zamfara State Government has appointed Alhaji Shehu Baraya as the new Head of the State Civil Service.
The appointment, approved by Governor Dauda Lawal, takes immediate effect, the Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Nakwada, said in a statement issued on Wednesday.
The statement was signed by the Senior Special Assistant on Media in the Office of the Secretary to the Zamfara State Government, Suleman Ahmad Tudu.
Baraya takes over from Alhaji Yakubu Haidara, who recently retired from the state civil service after years of service.
Describing the new Head of Service as an experienced career civil servant, the statement noted that Baraya had held the position of Permanent Secretary in several ministries and was, until his new appointment, the Permanent Secretary of the Zamfara State Civil Service Commission.
“The new Head of Service is a seasoned career civil servant with extensive institutional experience and a deep understanding of public administration,” the statement said.
Governor Lawal commended Haidara for his years of service and contributions to the development of the state civil service, while wishing him a rewarding post-retirement life.
The governor also tasked Baraya with leveraging his wealth of experience to promote professionalism, strengthen discipline, boost productivity and improve efficiency within the state civil service.
Lawal said the new Head of Service should ensure that the civil service continues to support the administration’s Rescue Agenda and its objectives for the state.
